ABOUT US

The thread factory UNITAS was established in 1920 as a small plant for the confection of imported threads. The factory developed quite fast and in 1940 its 80 employees manufactured around 40 tons of thread a year.

In 1946 Unitas was re-registered as a firm. At that time only 6 consumer products were manufactured. Since then Unitas has been making a constant progress and developing its product range in its capacity of the only thread factory in Croatia.

The new, modern plant was built in 1973 when the factory moved to the present location at Getaldićeva street number 1. We have constantly been committed to the development of new product ranges and high product quality. Today, the Unitas product range consists of 40 different thread structures, some of which are available in several hundreds of colours. Our Unitas threads have a wide application and are classified as:

· threads for knitting
· threads for crotcheting
· threads for embroidery

· threads for sewing
· Gobelin tapestry sets – Gobelin tapestry patterns complete with the thread Ljubica (Mouline). These have quickly found their way to our faithful customers.

The thread is produced from the combed and semi-combed cotton yarn and viscose rayon using the technological processes of gassing, mercerisation and dying with environment friendly colours.

The products of the thread factory Unitas are recognised for their quality not only on the domestic but also on the European Union and overseas markets. We place around 70% of our annual production on foreign markets. Unitas has found its place on the demanding foreign markets owing to the recognisable quality of its products, good business relations, timely service and acceptable prices.

The development of the factory is based on permanent modernisation and the introduction of environment friendly technology as well as on permanent adjustment to the market demands and client needs.
